Home Sweet Home

Here's the entrance to my new digs! It's like Rodeo Drive...

896 West Safari Drive, Tucson AZ 85704

Write me! Visit me!! Check back for more pics tomorrow!!!

In Arizona

We only have about 2 hours to go! Have lots of fun pics to post from last nite and from the road today. It's nice to finally be able to see scenery again. The last time we saw anything but snow/blizzard conditions was in Nebraska. Couldn't see a thing in Colorado the whole time we were there.

OH! At the first gas station today, the pump locked for me so I could clean my windows!! Signs are everywhere...

600 Miles to Tucson

We are on our last leg of the trip!!!! Weather in Tucson is 81 degrees and clear. We are really looking forward to it since the only weather we are familiar with right now is snow. Next road trip I take I'm packing snow boots, parkas, and mittens. Screaming banshees haven't tried to kill each other this morning, which is also a first for this trip. Things are finally looking up!!!! (knock on wood) We will be able to post our first snow free pictures later! YAY! Now we can post pictures of cactus, palm trees and stuff. Over and out.

The Ghost of Jess' past

As I mentioned in a previous posting, Monday night was when Megan and I were in Brooklyn hanging out with her brother (JP) and his fiancee(Jess). We visited a bar that night, and were talking and this and that, and then we got on the subject of ghosts. You know, the usual stuff, like, "do you believe in them?", "have you ever seen one?", etc., etc.... Jess then pipes in and tells us that her parents house is haunted. JP, who had just returned from a trip there, was like, "yeah, it totally spooked me out!"

Of course Megan and I wanted to hear the story about her parents haunted house. She went into all the detail and history about the ghost who is haunting her parents house, etc. This particular ghost would turn Jess' closet light on and off all night long if Jess didn't close her closet door. She got so used to the ghost doing it to her, she has just made a habit of closing her closet door. When she closes the door, the nonsense stops.

Throughout our trip, Megan and I have noticed peculiar things happening with lights and things turning on and off by themselves. We didn't say anything to each other about it until last night. Since we arrived into Denver so late, the only place that was open for dinner was Applebee's. So we headed over there, sat down at the bar, ordered a beer and some food. As we were sitting there, I noticed one of the bar lights next to me just turned off. I didn't say anything to Megan because lights burn out, so no big deal. About 15 minutes later, the light turns back on, full power. That is when Megan and I looked at each other and started laughing. We were like, "did you see that?"

So that is what started our conversation about this ghost of Jess'. We think with her talking about it to us, she has passed him on to us.
Oddities:
1. First night at the hotel, Megan had the TV on the weather channel. She went to brush her teeth, and I was sitting at the desk blogging. The TV just turned off. I looked to see where the remotes were, and they were on the night stand, far, far away from the cats. I wrote it off in my mind as just some circuit shorting or something like that. Later that night, Megan and I both had adjusted the heat to a warmer temperature because we were cold. It just didn't seem to stay warm. We kept adjusting it, and then went to bed. When we woke up, it was like the thermostat was never even turned on. She asked me if I got up in the middle of the night and turned it off. I said no, I figured you did. She thought I did. Hmmmmm.... So this was the day that her rear windshield busted out. So we continued to stay in that room for another night. That evening, the TV turned itself off again! And then the heat was turned onto 78 degrees and it didn't even feel like it. And I can't forget to mention the bedside lamps. They turned themselves on and off all the time. We would be watching TV and hear 'click' and the light would turn off. So we would try and turn them back on and then only one would power on, and then later, the other would turn on by itself, etc. It was WEIRD!

2. Another hotel oddity. Our second night in the hotel, the friggin TVpowered off again. And then the radio turned itself on. HUH??

3. The light at the bar that I mentioned above.

4. Read tomorrow's blog for the next ghost run in as we have checked into another hotel now.

Tucson Today & We found Roscoe!

We found Roscoe as we left Iowa....

Megan and I planned on sleeping in today since the snow storm was supposed to hit denver last night and we were supposed to wake up with 6 to 10 inches of snow on the ground. We woke up with none! We checked the weather, and now we are going to be driving straight through the storm. Ugh.

2000 miles later, we are finally in Denver

We've driven over 1000 miles today! And we still aren't done! Denver is due to get a major snow storm tonight, so it looks like we are going to be stuck again! What are the odds of getting stuck in 2 snow storms during our cross county trip???
The snow has just started to fall in Denver...

Battery is about to die on the laptop, we'll be able to give you a more interesting and informative update once we get to the hotel.

Cornhuskn'

We are in Nebraska now. If her card had autopilot, we could use it. I don't think Megan has had to turn the steering wheel once in the past hour. Plus side is that the speed limit is 75mph....

Oh, we are listening to a book on CD. It's pretty good except for the reader really sucks at imitating woman's voices and stuff.....

Red Bull for Breakfast

YAY! We hit the road at 430am this morning. No news to report yet.......

We hate Pennsylvania

We are still in Pennsylvania. We hate it. Did I mention we hate Pennsylvania??????

Road Hog

This thing was allowed to drive in the middle of the road at like 20mph. Totally slowed us down for a while.

PS- we aren't even halfway through Pennsylvania yet

Okay... Here are some pics. We are using flat Todd in our pics, kinda like those people use gnomes in all their pics, well, we are using flat Todd

Sandwich, NH. It was supposed to be the capitol of NH, but then the whole city caught on fire.

.

This is when we were sitting at the coffee shop in NH planning our trip.

Whatcha Want

It's now 12:30 and we are listening to Beastie Boys- Whatcha Want (thanks Pete!!!)

Here is where we are:

This is how we do it!

FYI-

It is straight up 12 noon. Location: Driving on I-80. City and state: Blair Witch Project town, NJJ. We are listening to Montell Jordan - This is how we do it.

The Rocky Mountain Radar is in full effect. Too bad we have no idea what the dfferent beeps mean. It beeps when there aren't cops arond and then when we pass a cop, it doesn't beep at all. Go figure. Plz excuse typos, it's hard to type and drive standard at the same time.....
Getting ready to post our pics from the past few days. Come back soon.

Signing off for now....

Rollin' down 80

Kitty Litter Express

Well I survived my first day on the road. We left yesterday morning after trying to fit a small apartments worth of stuff into the trunk of Megan's car, plus the two cats in the back seat. It was hard for Megan to say goodbye, as she has been there forever, but we finally moved forward.
First stop- McDonalds. We get some happy meals and then hit the freeway. We arrived in Connecticut in just under three hours to say goodbye to her mother and sister. Scarfed down a sub while we were there, and then hit the road again. Next stop- Brooklyn, where her brother lives. Made it there in about 2 hours. They do some catching up and then we head for the trains to go get some dinner and search for Roscoe. For those of you who aren't familiar with Roscoe yet, visit oddtodd.com. Anyhow, our plan was to head to the local bar where Roscoe's owner brings him in while he grabs a beer.

But before all that, we found a verizon store so we could get a wireless aircard for Megan's computer so we can update our blog as we are on the road. The store had this crazy setup where she had to sign in for customer service to help her. There were 3 people ahead of her in the queue, and after waiting for 40 minutes for these 3 people to be helped, turns out NONE of them were even in the store anymore, so Megan quickly jumpted to the front of the line. Aircard in hand, we headed for dinner. Found a cute little place in Brooklyn called BarTabac. DELISH!

Then we headed towards Brooklyn Inn, the bar that we were hoping to say hello to Roscoe at. He wasn't there, but it ended up being a cute little bar where we hung out and watched her brother make Dr.Phil impersoniations.....

We did a good job getting up early today and right now we are on our way to have breakfast at Juniors. For those of you who have watched P.Diddy's making the band, this is the place where he made the boys walk to and bring him back cheesecake or something like that. Well that is what Megan told me. I'm not very clear on the whole story. Look forward to seeing more postings from us now since we have internet and stuff in the car.

Ciao for now.

Random Posting

One of our favorite JT skits.....

My Sunday Drive

Well, Megan and I haven't been very diligent in dedicating time to teach me how to drive standard. Considering that we are leaving tomorrow, we had to knock it out today. We ran some last minute errands today and went to Walmart to pick up snacks and drinks for the road. We came back home and unloaded the car, but we had to head back to town because we haven't printed our maps yet, and since there isn't internet at the house (PITA!) we have to drive to town and find internet....

I looked at Megan and said, where ever we go next, I am driving. She said, I was just thinking the same thing. So after about ten minutes of reviewing the gears, adjusting the seat, etc., I started to reverse out of the driveway. Megan stood in the road and helped back me out because she was scared I was going to take out her stone wall at the end of the drive way. It's probably a good thing she did. So about ten stall outs later, I was finally in the middle of the road ready to go into first gear and head into town.
I didn't stall at all on our trip to town, had quite a few jerky spots, but all in all, we made it. Megan said I like to peel out. :)

We are looking to leave tomorrow at 8am. I'm trying to find a way to get one of those wireless cards through Sprint so we will always have internet access and be able to give updates instantly instead of having to wait until we get to a hotel. Standby.

DON'T SKIP ACROSS THE STREET!

My plane landed yesterday around 8pm in NH. I looked out the airplane window and there was this obnoxious white glare staring back at me. I called Megan and asked her what the heck all the white stuff was that was all over the ground. She retorted- SNOW. It snowed 14 inches the day before I arrived. GREAT. I haven't seen this much snow in 8 years!

Anyhow, once I recovered from the shock of seeing so much snow, we went out to dinner and then a few of her friends met us out for a few cocktails. We decided to go across the street to a different bar. One of her friends that was with us decided to skip across the street. BIG MISTAKE. A police officer comes flying down the street, and pulls to the side of the road. The cop calls the 'skipper' to his car, and states, 'next time you want to skip across the street, push the button!" We assume the cop was referring to the crosswalk button???
Anyhow, it was very funny to see a cop yell at somehow for skipping. Needless to say, her friend has now been nicknamed 'Skippy'.

Right now we are sitting at a coffee shop planning our trip. Megan's movers packed her router, so we don't have any internet at the house, so we have to come into town and use internet at the java house. We can't decide which route to take. We can't decide when to leave.
I've tasked Megan to the next post, maybe we will have decided something by then.

ok bye!

Road Block Already

I haven't even left Asheville yet and have already run into our first road block. Megan sends me a message asking if I can drive standard. I reply and ask her if she is kidding. She says no. So currently we are scheduled to drive 2,650 miles with only one person who knows how to drive the car we are taking.
Did I mention the screaming cats that will be in the back of the car?

PS- I'm a new blogger so bear with me as I figure this thing out!
